How to Play Tetris: A Step-by-Step Guide
Tetris is a classic puzzle game where you manipulate falling blocks to create complete horizontal lines. Follow these steps to enjoy the game:
Step 1: Select your starting level using the dropdown menu. Higher levels mean faster gameplay.
Step 2: Click the “Start” button to begin the game. The first tetromino (shape) will appear at the top of the game board.
Step 3: Use the following controls to manipulate the falling tetromino:
- Left Arrow: Move the piece left
- Right Arrow: Move the piece right
- Down Arrow: Move the piece down faster
- Up Arrow: Rotate the piece clockwise
- Spacebar: Hard drop (instantly drop the piece to the bottom)
- C key: Hold the current piece for later use
Step 4: On touch devices, use the on-screen buttons to control the game:
- Left/Right arrows: Move the piece left or right
- Down arrow: Move the piece down faster
- Rotate: Rotate the piece clockwise
- Drop: Hard drop the piece
- Hold: Store the current piece for later use
Step 5: Try to create complete horizontal lines across the game board. When a line is completed, it will disappear, and you’ll earn points. The more lines you clear at once, the higher your score.
Step 6: As you clear lines and increase your score, the game speed will increase, making it more challenging to position the pieces accurately.
Step 7: Use the “Hold” feature strategically. It allows you to store a piece for later use when you need it most.
Step 8: The game ends when the stack of tetrominoes reaches the top of the game board. Your final score will be displayed.
Step 9: To pause the game at any time, click the “Pause” button. Click “Resume” to continue playing.
Step 10: If you want to start over, click the “Restart” button. This will reset the game board and your score.
Remember, the key to success in Tetris is planning ahead and thinking quickly. Try to maintain a flat surface for incoming pieces and always be prepared for the next shape. Good luck and enjoy the game!
