On Monday, January 18, Bigo Live will join millions across the globe to recognize the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Known as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. Here at Bigo Live, we cherish these values deeply, and will demonstrate them year round by fostering a safe and inclusive community for our users. We’ve seen firsthand the impact our platform has had on our global communities, and we will continue to expand these efforts throughout the new year.
We recognize the fact that live-streaming opens up a virtual global stage to anybody looking to forge a connection and discuss important topics like social justice. We firmly believe in the value of diversity and the importance of equality. We were inspired by the social justice protests that took hold last year, and back in June we were honored to host a panel discussion around the Black Lives Matter movement, providing our users with a safe space to share and discuss their beliefs in real time. Additionally, we made a pledge to give $100,000 in charitable donations in 2021 alone. In the spirit of Dr. King’s efforts to bring people together to effect change, we will continue to prioritize social good this year, and provide a creative outlet that unites users around the globe.
